Wi Fi VOIP Phone
If you want to use your phone throughout your house, it would be wise to consider a Wi Fi VOIP phone. A Wi Fi VOIP phone allows you to use your VOIP phone anywhere that your Wi Fi network is available.
Of course, if you do not already have a Wi Fi network, you will have to pony up some more money for Wi Fi router (or mulitple Wi Fi routers if your home is large). Also, Wi Fi VOIP phones typically cost a little more than a VOIP phone that does not offer Wi Fi connectibility. Therefore, the additional costs of having a Wi Fi VOIP phone need to be considered before deciding.
Once you have your Wi Fi network in place, you’re ready to purchase your VOIP phone. This is our recommended Wi Fi VOIP phone:

When you order a VOIP phone, it usually comes with more than the phone itself. Your VOIP phone may come with a means of connecting to your computer, software, and other accessories. The complete bundle is called a VOIP phone set.
Before you order a VOIP phone set, be sure that you understand the equipment that is included. For instance, if you plan on using Skype or Vonage, you will not need any software. Choosing a VOIP Phone Plan
There are several different VOIP phone plans available, and some work completely different than others. In fact, many of the different VOIP phone plans require completely different hardware. Let’s examine one VOIP phone plan that requires you to sit at your computer, and another VOIP phone plan which works more like a traditional telephone.
Skype VOIP Phone Plan
Skype is a VOIP phone plan that works by plugging a VOIP phone or VOIP headset into your computer and talking using the Skype software. Downloading the software is completely free and calls between Skype users is also free. If you want to call a landline from your VOIP phone, Skype allows you to deposit money into your account and deducts from your balance for each call you make. Skype is allowing customers to call landline and cell phones in the United States and Canada for free until the end of 2006; Skype’s international rates are very reasonable.
Vonage VOIP Phone Plan
The Vonage VOIP phone plans work like a hybrid between a traditional phone and a cell phone plan. Customers pay a monthly fee for a monthly allocation of minutes to call the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Vonage also offers tiered VOIP phone plans that allow you to call Europe as well. Much like a cell phone plan, Vonage will charge you extra for any minutes that you use after your monthly allotment is gone. However, the benefit of Vonage is that you do not need to be tied to your computer to use the service; you can use a VOIP phone anywhere in your home.
VOIP Phone Plan Conclusion
There are several VOIP Phone Plans to choose from. Depending on your expected level of use, the areas of the world you want to call, the flexibility you desire with the VOIP equipment, and your budget, a different VOIP phone plan may be right for you.
